STATEMENT
Each series of my artwork approach to different connections between human beings and nature. They emerge from what I experience, observe, and witness in the places I inhabit or walk through. Sometimes they are simply records of species, other times the pieces reflect scenes of interaction, invasion, or destruction, caused by current human activity or previous actions. I am interested in the concept of the footprint, as a means of perpetuating currently existing natural species through imprints, replicas, or portraits of their form; and as a memory of the passage of time, the gradual change of the landscape, whether due to the natural cycle it follows or due to human intervention.
